# Set up WhatsApp

> Enable WhatsApp so partners text your Introw number and get the same agent experience they would get in Slack, with no app to install and no login.

WhatsApp is the lowest-friction surface Introw has: there is nothing for the partner to install, no channel to be invited to, and no login. They text a number and get the same agent that runs everything else. This guide turns it on and covers the one piece of data hygiene it depends on.

## What you'll achieve

A WhatsApp number your partners can text to ask about their deals, register a lead, and get instant answers, with every action attributed to the right partner contact and written back to your CRM.

## Before you start

<Steps>
  <Step title="WhatsApp is on your plan">
    WhatsApp is a paid add-on. If the WhatsApp block shows an upgrade message instead of an enable button, contact your account manager to have it added.
  </Step>

  <Step title="You can manage integrations">
    You need integration permissions in Introw.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Your partner contacts have phone numbers in your CRM">
    This is the one that decides whether it works. Introw identifies an incoming message purely by the sender's phone number, matched against the phone number on their synced contact record. A contact with no phone number, or a different one, will not be recognized.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Info>
  You do not need a Twilio account, a Meta Business account, or a number of your own. WhatsApp runs on Introw's managed Business messaging.
</Info>

## Steps

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the communication integrations">
    Go to [Integrations](https://app.introw.io/settings/integrations?category=communication) and find the **WhatsApp** block.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enable WhatsApp">
    Select **Enable WhatsApp**. There is nothing to configure: no OAuth redirect, no scopes, no app to authorize. Introw provisions the messaging side for you and takes you to the WhatsApp settings page.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Copy your number">
    The settings page shows **Your WhatsApp number** with a copy button. This is the number partners message, and you can come back for it any time. If it says the number is not configured yet, provisioning has not finished; contact your Introw account manager to complete it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Map partner numbers where you want notifications too">
    On the channels screen you can map each partner to the WhatsApp number used for shared notifications and agent conversations, and add internal recipients who should get partner notifications on WhatsApp. Use international format, for example +32 followed by the number. This is optional for inbound conversations, which work from CRM contact matching alone.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Share the number with partners">
    Send it to the partner contacts you want using it. There is nothing for them to set up, so this is the entire partner-side effort. Point them at [Introw for partners](/features/partner-connect/partner-crm/guides/introw-for-partners) if they want to know what the agent can see.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## What partners can do once they have the number

The same agent, so the same capabilities as Slack, Teams, or a connected AI assistant, scoped to that contact's access:

* Ask where their deals stand and what is pending
* Register a deal or share a lead, with the agent collecting your form's required fields in the conversation before it submits. See [Register a deal from chat](/features/partner-connect/communication-tools/guides/register-a-deal-from-chat)
* Ask what commission is owed, or what is left to reach the next tier
* Get product and process answers, in their own language, at any hour

## Verify it worked

Text the number from a phone whose number is on a contact record synced into your CRM, and ask something specific to that partner, for example which deals are open. A correct, partner-scoped answer confirms both the messaging path and the contact matching. A generic non-answer, or no recognition at all, almost always means the phone number on that contact does not match the sender.

## Limits and gotchas

<Warning>
  Recognition is phone-number based and exact. Partners messaging from a personal phone that is not on their contact record will not be recognized, and a shared or reassigned number will resolve to whoever holds that contact record. Keep phone numbers current on the contacts you want using WhatsApp.
</Warning>

* WhatsApp is inbound-first: partners start the conversation by texting the number, and the agent replies in the thread.
* The number is provisioned by Introw, so it is not a number you already own or advertise elsewhere.
* Everything the agent does is scoped to the matched contact's portal access, exactly as it is on every other surface.
